There are over 600+ variants/species of plecostomus. These species can range in size from as small as 2-3″ all the way to 17″. Most likely plecos in our store that we decide to carry, will be on the smaller scale generally around 6″ and under. Our chart below will be tailored specifically for this pleco. Since there are many variety of plecos, they originate from different waters and may require different care than other plecos. These fish require highly oxygenated water to survive, you can add a bubbler or make sure there is lots of surface agitation. You will usually find these fish clinging onto rocks or the smooth surfaces such as the side of your glass. These fish are generally peaceful, but may be territorial towards each other if you don’t have tank space, cover, or shaded areas of your tank.We recommend you use a smooth substrate or non sharp gravel to ensure it doesn’t cut or harm itself.

The Snowball pleco, also known as the Orinoco Angel Pleco is native to the fast flowing streams and rivers of the Orinoco. With a black body and white spotted coloration, they make a great addition to a community aquarium. These fish are generally hardy and undemanding, making them easy for any fish keepers. They also only grow up to a maximum size of 5-6 inches making them popular to keep in the home aquarium.
