The Kitty Tetra is a relatively new arrival to the aquatic industry, being first discovered in 2000 in the Mato Grosso region of South America. It is a very attractive Tetra, with iridescent scales and an active showy manner. Maturing males develop longer and more colourful fins and often try to outshine rival males. An ideal community fish, maximum size is usually around 4cm.
