My name is Vince and I’m a part time sommelier, part time aquascaper. Living in downtown Toronto, I am constantly surrounded by a concrete jungle and I wanted to bring nature into my apartment. That’s when aquascaping comes in. During the pandemic, I first discovered aquascaping from YouTube, and I immediately dove into the hobby by purchasing a fluval flex. I was hooked.
The more I learned about aquascaping, the more I realized how perfect it is for me. There is so much technical and scientific information, but there’s also an artistic side. I discovered Aqua Design Amano (ADA) shortly after starting the hobby, and I was enamoured by their nature style aquariums. There something magical about seeing a school of tetras swimming across an aquascape.
Through ADA, I also discovered competitive aquascaping. I have taken part in the IAPLC, and AGA (placing 3rd in 2022), and I quickly realized it was something I want to keep doing every year. I was able to visit Aquashella in Orlando and Chicago where I was able to take part in a live aquascaping competition. It was an amazing experience where I was able to meet so many people, making life long friends, and I even got to meet some of the YouTubers I had learned from.
Join me on my journey to give back to the aquascaping community by educating newcomers and guiding you through some of the fundamentals of keeping a planted aquarium.
